Ross Breaks School Weight Lifting Record

Posted Tuesday, March 13, 2012 by Larry Smith
While his teammates had their sights set on attending the last home basketball game against Texas University, Kansas University freshman Lakendrick "Blindside" Ross had loftier goals. Ross attained the goal to hold the bench press record within the weight room last month during his weight training class. Ross at 6'5 320 pounds placed his name above former Jayhawk standout Anthony Collins who is now in the NFL. "Ross is the first freshman I've coached to bench 415 pounds" said head coach Charlie Weis. Ross's interest in weightlifting began when he incorporated it into his training regimen throughout the football season. It wasn’t long, he said, before he was shattering school records with ease.  “Ross is a very well-mannered young man who is driven to success and anything that he sets his mind to,” Weis said. “His mentor Byron Joyce have instilled in him a great sense of pride and a work ethic that will ensure a wonderful future.”
